WHEN AND WHY DID YOU FIRST START SURFING?

I started surfing when I was 5 or 6 because we live right near the beach and my Dad has always been a keen surfer so it was kind of natural that I started surfing.

WHAT'S YOUR HOMETOWN LIKE?

My hometown, Piha,  is what sparked my love for surfing, we live a 10 minute walk from the beach and there are always waves, even if most of the time it’s too big to surf. It’s a super small town but one of the closest beaches to Auckland so we get lots of tourists coming out to visit.

WHAT EVENTS HAVE YOU COMPETED IN AND DO YOU SEE YOURSELF COMPETING IN ANY MORE CONTESTS?

I have competed in lots of national competitions all over NZ and hopefully next year I’ll be able to do some comps in Australia as well.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVE BOARD TO RIDE?

My Primal Surfboards epoxy, it’s a magic board!

WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO AT THE MOMENT?

I listen to lots of different music but mainly Indie/Rock/Pop like Middle Kids, Ocean Alley, Sticky Fingers…

WHAT’S THE BEST SONG TO GET AMPED FOR A SURF?

Anything upbeat and fun to get psyched and in the zone.

WHO ARE YOU FOLLOWING IN INSTA?

Mostly surfers and surfing related accounts haha.

IF YOU COULD ONLY EAT ONE MEAL FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD YOU CHOOSE?

Nothing beats a good smoothie right?

WHO IS YOUR FAVOURITE SURFER?

I really like Carissa Moore’s style and Caroline Mark’s power so probably both of them. And John John Florence is just crazy!

WHO INSPIRES YOU TO BE A BETTER SURFER?

Girls my age that shred! Surfing with good surfers just makes you want to get better and better I reckon.

WHICH THREE PEOPLE WOULD YOU INVITE TO YOUR DREAM DINNER PARTY AND WHY?

Anyone on the WSL Championship tour because I reckon they are all super cool people and would have some amazing stories to share.

WHAT'S THE BIGGEST SURF YOU'VE BEEN IN?

Not that big, like 4-5 foot probably. One of my goals is definitely to get more comfortable in bigger waves!

HOW DO YOU CONQUER YOUR FEAR?

I conquer my fears in the water by training and preparing myself mentally and physically out of the water so I can be more comfortable in the water.

DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN 5 WORDS.
